A Viennese Ball

photo 2 (768x1024)Last night we went to our first ball in Vienna.

The ball “season” in Vienna runs all winter long and there are hundreds of different balls to attend in this beautiful city. My husband’s office hosted a ball at the stunning Hofburg Palace last night. I have never seen so many different chandeliers in one place! It was a black tie event requiring bow ties for the gentlemen and full length gowns for the ladies, unless you wore traditional attire from your home country. We saw a number of men in kilts, women in gorgeous saris and kimonos and one or two guys strutting there stuff in lederhosen. There is something very James Bond about being surrounded by men and women dressed to the nines in a palace. We had a great time watching the professional dancers, trying to waltz ourselves, roaming around the palace, eating and drinking tasty food and people watching. It was definitely a night to remember! photo 12 (768x1024) photo 1 (768x1024) photo 5 (1024x768) photo 8 (768x1024) photo 9 (768x1024) photo 6 (768x1024) photo 4 (1024x768) photo 10 (768x1024) photo 11 (670x1024) photo 7 (768x1024)
