Walk in the Bois de Boulogne

After being stuck inside most of the day Monday with the mini-blizzard, we took advantage of the first rays of sunshine we have seen since we arrived in France and went for a stroll in the park. Laurent’s parents live a 5 minute walk from the Bois de Boulogne, a large wooded park in Lille. The park has a free zoo, a playground, lots of green space and wooded areas and is home to the Citadelle de Lille. The Citadelle dates back to the 17th century and its construction was ordered by Louis XIV. The site is classified as an historic monument.

Side note on the photos. The light was a little funky yesterday and I had a lot of trouble with the white balance settings on my D700…I had a lot of photos that were way too yellow, and others that were much too blue. It took a long time to figure out what worked best in New York, so I guess I’m back to square one to figure out French light and my white balance.
